UFC returns to the Apex in Las Vegas this weekend with a featherweight main event between veteran knockout artist Josh Emmett and another fast-rising contender, Kevin Vallejos. The card also features a co-main fight in the women’s strawweight division between Amanda Lemos and Gillian Robertson, along with several compelling undercard fights where a handful of dogs are looking live!

Main Event: Josh Emmett vs Kevin Vallejos

Josh Emmett enters this fight with a record of 19-6 and remains one of the most dangerous power punchers in the featherweight division. Even at this stage of his career, Emmett still carries legitimate knockout power and the ability to change a fight with a single shot. He lands 3.72 significant strikes per minute and absorbs 4.43, showing that durability is a major factor for him as he looks to counter more than attack.

Emmett’s average fight time sits just under 13 minutes, which highlights how often his fights extend into deeper rounds. That experience could prove important in a five-round main event where pacing and patience will determine how long this fight lasts.

Kevin Vallejos enters with a 17-1 record and looks to be one of the more dangerous young strikers in the division. Vallejos pushes a much faster pace, landing 5.78 significant strikes per minute with a striking accuracy of 46%. His aggressive approach has produced several early finishes throughout his career.

One of the interesting dynamics in this matchup is how the pace of Vallejos matches up against the durability, patience, and experience of Emmett. Vallejos has the higher output and is clearly the more active striker, but Emmett has faced elite competition for years and has proven he can survive against dangerous opponents.

If Vallejos can maintain his pace over five rounds, he will likely control large portions of the striking exchanges, especially if Emmett is looking to counter. Emmett’s ability to absorb damage and extend fights could force Vallejos into unfamiliar territory against a dangerous power puncher.

Because both fighters possess knockout power and a willingness to stand and trade, there is a strong possibility this fight evolves into a measured striking battle, with both fighters respecting the other. We may see a finish, but I believe it’s later than sooner.

Prediction: Fight Over 3.5 Rounds (-110, DraftKings)

Co-Main Event: Amanda Lemos vs Gillian Robertson

Amanda Lemos enters this matchup with a record of 15-5-1 and remains one of the more dangerous strikers in the women’s strawweight division, even at the ripe at of 38. Lemos lands 2.75 significant strikes per minute with an impressive 55% striking accuracy, displaying the efficiency she can bring to the octagon.

Her opponent Gillian Robertson comes into this fight with a 16-8 record and brings a very different skill set to the matchup. Robertson is one of the most grappling-heavy fighters in the division, averaging 2.74 takedowns per 15 minutes while constantly hunting to get her opponent to the ground for submission opportunities.

The stylistic contrast is clear, Lemos will want to keep the fight standing where her striking power becomes the deciding factor, while Robertson will look to close distance, secure takedowns, and control the fight on the mat. In most instances I would side with the grappler, but Lemos’s experience could be a factor here.

One key statistic to watch is Lemos’ 64% takedown defense. If she can consistently defend Robertson’s entries, the fight should remain in the striking range where Lemos could compromise Robertson over the course of 15 minutes.

Robertson’s path to victory relies on getting the fight to the ground early and maintaining top control. But if she struggles to secure takedowns, Lemos’ striking advantage could allow her to dictate the tempo of the fight and get a victory from the judges.

Prediction: Amanda Lemos to Win (+176, Novig promo code)
