After a fantastic 5-2 weekend, we're ready to jump back in the saddle with our MLB selections. We've been adding some moneyline plays back into the fold, and it's worked out quite well lately. We even cashed a nice +110 series bet on the Red Sox, who easily took down the Rangers.

Ready to get your week off to a good start? Check out the 4 best bets we have in store for Monday, August 5. Good luck, sports betting family!

Best Bet: Mets (-111)

NYM at STL - 5:15 PM EDT

This is an awful spot for St. Louis, as they just lost 3 of 4 on the road to their archrival Cubs. The Cards were dominated by Justin Steele and the North Siders on Sunday Night Baseball. I love fading teams that have to travel after playing on Sunday night, as they usually don't land until well after midnight. That tends to mess up the old body clock for a day or two.

I'm not a huge fan of Sean Manaea of the Mets, but he's in excellent form after pitching 7 innings of shutout ball against the Twins last week. The veteran lefty should terrorize this Cards lineup, which ranks just 27 in WRC+ against southpaws.

The Mets had a tough series against the Angels over the weekend, but their lineup is still in better current form than the Cardinals. New York is 5th in WRC+ over their last 30 days. Give me the Mets at this very reasonable price.

Best Bet: D'Backs F5 (-124)

AZ at CLE - 6:40 PM EDT

It's certainly tough to fade the Guardians at home, but I just can't resist fading a human gascan like Logan Allen. The 25-year-old lefty was sent back to AAA a few weeks ago, mainly because of his bloated 5.67 ERA and 1.55 WHIP.

Allen has a bad habit of hanging his curveball, which could be problematic against this D'Backs offense. Speaking of this Arizona lineup, they've been knocking the cover off the ball lately.

The D'Backs are averaging 7.7 runs per game over their last 10 outings. Joc Pederson is a big reason why Zona is 15-5 since July 10. I love Zac Gallen, but I sure cannot trust this Arizona bullpen. That's why we're loading up on the D'Backs in the first 5 innings.

Best Bet: Astros (-117)

HOU at TEX - 8:05 PM EDT

As a Rangers fan it kills me to admit this, but this team is fading fast. Texas just lost 2 of 3 at home to Boston and has lost 7 of their last 9 outings. The Houston offense has fallen flat of late, but I think they'll wake up in this series.

Even with their recent funk, the Astros still have the 14th best lineup in baseball against lefties. The Rangers only rank 26th vs. righties! I also think Houston has an edge with Hunter Brown on the hill. After a disastrous start to 2024, Brown has really figured things out by using his excellent changeup to limit hard contact.

Brown will be opposed by Andrew Heaney, and this Houston team has hit him pretty well. Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman have each homered twice against Heaney in their respective careers. Yordan Alvarez is also batting a robust .524 against the southpaw.

Best Bet: Dodgers F5 (-128)

PHI at LAD - 10:10 PM EDT

For some late night action, let's ride one of our favorite horses in Tyler Glasnow. We lost betting on him last week, but it was the Dodgers bullpen that let us down. We're taking them out of the equation by betting LA in the first 5 innings.

Glasnow is one of the most dominant righties in baseball and he's struck out 19 batters over his last 3 starts. The 30-year-old has one of the highest K-rates in baseball at 32.8%, which is why I like to ride him if the price is decent. He should be able to carve up a Phillies squad that's won just 1 of their last 7 games.

I'm usually not a big believer in revenge situations in baseball because of the sheer volume of games that they play. However, I'm betting that the Dodgers are highly motivated after getting swept by the Phils in the City of Brotherly Love earlier this season. Give me the Boys in Blue to get some sweet revenge.
