The American League East race has one team that is an anomaly right now.

Take a look at the last 10 games for the four teams battling for playoff positioning, and three of them are 8-2 over that span: Tampa Bay, which leads the AL East by four games, New York, and Toronto.

The lone outlier? That would be the Boston Red Sox. They not red hot; they are ice cold. Boston is 2-8 over that span, which has seen both the Yankees and Blue Jays make up six games in the standings.

Tonight, the Red Sox start a three-game set with those first place Rays, knowing that the division race could get away from them with a bad showing over the next few days.

Both teams come in 33-22 tonight, the Rays on the road, and the Red Sox at home. Only the Brewers and the Giants have more road wins, and it is no coincidence that all three teams lead divisions.

Tonight, though, in a game Boston desperately needs, I am going to pick the Red Sox at home.

As always, I use PlaySugarHouse.com / BetRivers.com for all of my lines and action.
