All of a sudden, the American League East and West races have tightened up right before the All-Star break.
The rolling New York Yankees have won six of 10, and also the first two games of their series with the Houston Astros. The Yankees are still eight back of the Red Sox, and 6.5 back of the red-hot Rays, but it could be the start of some positive momentum.
The Astros, meanwhile, have lost three straight, and now suddenly have Oakland (3.5 back) and the Seattle Mariners (six back) cutting games off their lead.
Good teams usually do not get swept at home, so I have to take a long look at Houston today, especially with Framber Valdez on the hill.
