Funny story in the news today that leaked online about New Era and MLB working on new hats. The reviews were so across the board bad that they had to pull them before launch.
They were hacky, ugly, and seemed to be designed by 5th graders.
Whomever is managing things over at MLB needs to step up their game – we have a ball doctoring scandal, redesigned baseballs that can't be hit, and now crappy hats. I’m a baseball fan and even I am discouraged by what’s going on…
On to the K-Watch…
Blue Jays @ Yankees, 7:05 pm ET
(Editor's Note: The Yankee/Blue Jays game has been postponed until tomorrow due to a pending storm.)
It’s the strangest thing to see a Yankees team on a winning streak because of pitching. I don’t remember the last time that’s happened. Still, this lineup is too good not to turn itself around. So rather than look at the Blue Jays pitcher, let’s look at the Yankees’ starting pitcher today, Domingo German. German has been better on the road than at home, likely due to that small porch in right. On the K side, he’s been doing a healthy 1K an inning almost every start and he’s averaging ~6 innings a start. So why don’t I like him to go over 5.5 as the lines have him today? Because of the Blue Jays – who don’t like to strike out as much as their counterparts. As a result, I’m taking the under 5.5 and -143 from the Barstool Sportsbook.
Royals @ Rays, 7:10 pm ET
People who follow me know I was going to pick this one because of Rays strikeout stud Tyler Glasnow. But wait, you say, he totally screwed the pooch last time out! Yes, he only managed 2 K last outing in 4.2 innings – but who did he face? Yep – the Blue Jays – whom I just noted in my last pick as pretty stingy with their strikeouts. The Royals strike out at a nice clip and I think Glasnow will have a nice night – back to his 9/10K a game. And so, I’m taking the over 8.5 and +100 from our friends at DraftKings.
Dodgers @ Astros, 7:30 pm ET
We’re here to watch the Dodgers’ Trevor Bauer pitch. Not just because he’s an ace, but because I have him on my fantasy baseball team. Bauer has stepped it up in his last two outings, striking out 10 in 7 in one, and 11 in 6.1 in the other. I think he’ll keep it rolling tonight – and I really need him to for both my bets and FBB. The line is generously set at 7.5 and I think he’ll do 8 or 9 against Houston. Take the over 7.5 and +122 from FanDuel.
