Another 2-1 day yesterday – hope you people out there are also winning more than losing.
It sucks that Jacob DeGrom is going to miss some time because of tightness on his right side – but maybe during this time the Mets bats will heat up?
Short schedule tonight, so let’s make these picks count…
Red Sox @ Orioles, 7:05 pm ET
Boston’s Martin Perez is finally building up his arm strength and the lefty has looked good his last two outings. He struck out 6 in 5.1 last time out and 7 in 5.1 the time before. Throw in the fact that he’s facing Baltimore and I have high hopes for him. Throw on top of that that the over/under is set at 4.5 and I have high hopes for us. FanDuel is offering a juicy +120 for the over and I’m taking it.
Marlins @ Diamondbacks, 9:40 pm ET
Luke Weaver faced these same Marlins 5 days ago and it did not go well. He went 4 innings, gave up 6 runs and 6 hits… but he had 6Ks! Tonight he has them at home and FanDuel has set the over/under at 5.5. Given the "hometown 1K bonus" I assign to home vs away games (depending on the park – Colorado is a whole different animal, see below) so I’m happy to pick the over at -118.
Rangers @ Giants, 9:45 pm ET
Don’t overthink the recent Alex Wood stats – it’s as simple as putting them in their proper context. Yes, on April 28 he faced the Rockies going 6 and striking out 9. Yes, on May 4 he faced the Rockies again, this time going 5 and only striking out 2. The context/difference between these two starts is that the first was in Texas and the second in Colorado. Some people just have a harder time in that thin air, and I am one of them. Last time I went to Colorado I had to spend an hour in an oxygen bar just to get rid of my headache. Anyway, point is, Wood should be fine against Texas tonight. BetMGM has the over set at 5.5 and -139 and I’m confident (stupid?) enough to take it.
Come back again — same bat-channel — Batman out!
