Another 2-1 day. Someone please remind me to stay away from picking rookie pitcher games – ya never know what to expect. Here’s what’s cooking today.
Giants @ Phillies, 7:05 pm ET
Are the Phillies finally turning things around? Let’s hope so – there is nothing more miserable than an angry Philly fan. Chase Anderson has a chance to keep things rolling and he’s had a tough time in on the K front this year – both starts were against the Mets and in the first start he struck out 3 over 5 and on the second he K’d 3 over 4. Anderson isn’t a strikeout pitcher historically and given his inability to go more than 5 innings/start this year I don’t see him going over 5.5 Ks today, so I’ll take the under at -159.
Rays @ Royals, 8:10 pm ET
Danny Duffy takes the mound for the Royals tonight and his 2021 season has looked shiny. 2-0 with a .75 ERA and 11 Ks over 12 innings with a WHIP of 1.17. Not bad at all, especially when you consider he was facing the Indians and Angels. The over/under is set at 5.5 and I like him to go over against this Tampa team – line currently at -139 but there may be some movement closer to game time.
Rangers @ Angels, 9:38 pm ET
Kohei Arihara is starting for Texas, and even though he is an experienced pitcher (from Japan), he is an MLB rookie – so like I said earlier, I’m going to stay away from picking any and all rookies. However, Dylan Bundy is not! Bundy has looked good with a nice 1.05 WHIP and 22 Ks in 19 IP. Most of those strikeouts came against the Astros, where he struck out 10 in 6 innings. The line is set at 6.5 and I like him to hit the over at -120.
Come back again — same bat-channel — Batman out!
