MLB Monday - Albert Picks Rays v Athletics, Yankees v Mets, Marlins v Cardinals, Rockies v Cubs, Morton, Vargas, Marquez

Published on

Favorite Pick of the Day:
Rays (-185) over Athletics

Subway Pick of the Day:
Yankees (-200) over Mets

Are You Sure? Pick of the Day:
Marlins (+135) over Cardinals

Pick’em of the Day:
Rockies (-125) over Cubs

The Skinny:
The Rays are good, the Athletics are not. Sometimes, it is just that simple. But also, the Rays are 4-0 in Charlie Morton’s last four starts versus a team with a losing record and 4-1 in his last five starts overall. If you needed stats to back up what seems like common sense, there you have it. . . . No, we’re not talking Italian BMT, which would be that type of Subway pick for this Monday, but rather the baseball variety. The Yankees are 5-0 in their last five home games versus a team with a losing record and have not lost a Monday game in over a month. Plus, the Mets are 1-4 in Jason Vargas' last five starts versus a team with a winning record. . . . I have a theory of good teams traveling to play in Miami, and it typically does not lend well for them. Coming off a tough road series with the Cubs, I don’t trust that the Cardinals’ concentration will be all the way there Monday night. Plus, they are already dismal on the road, having gone 3-13 in their last 16. There’s not much positive to say about Miami this year, but the Marlins are 5-1 in their last six home games versus a team with a losing record. . . . WIth so few games today, there aren’t any pick ’ems as of right now, but the closest we have is between the Rockies and the Cubs, the home team being the slight favorite. And that’s who I’m taking in this one. The Rockies are 6-0 in German Marquez’s last six home starts and are 13-3 in their last 16 home games. The Cubs are 1-5 in their last six road games. Makes sense why the Rockies are slight favorites.
