We’re talkin’ baseball on MLB Sunday: Albert picks Mets v Marlins, Rockies v Phillies, Astros v Red Sox, and Pirates v Padres
Favorite Pick of the Day:
Mets (-196) over MARLINS
My Dumb Brain Pick of the Day
PHILLIES (-127) over Rockies
Are You Sure? Pick of the Day:
Astros (+156) over RED SOX
Pick’em of the Day:
PADRES over Pirates
The Skinny:
Thor is on the mound against the Marlins. That should be enough, but it also helps that unlike his buddy Jacob deGrom, the Mets actually hit for Noah Syndergaard. The Mets are 4-0 in Syndergaard’s last four starts when their opponent scores two runs or less in their previous game, 4-1 in Syndergaard’s last five road starts and 4-1 in Syndergaard’s last five Sunday starts. Lock it down. . . . This is how my brain works: The Phillies have won close games against the Rockies this week, there’s just no way they lose on Sunday at home. Luckily for me, Jerad Eickhoff is on the mound to prove me right. The Phillies are 4-1 in Eickhoff’s last five home starts vs. a team with a losing record. . . . For how good Chris Sale has been this year for Boston, his teammates have not exactly backed him up. Even when he strikes out 17 like he did last week, that does not guarantee a win. In fact, the Red Sox are 0-4 in Sales last 4 home starts. This, to me, is more like a pick’em, and I’ll take the plus odds on one of the best teams in baseball. . . . Sunday games I always err on the side of the home team with impending travel for the visitors, which is why I’m taking the Padres. Despite being just 1-5 in their last six, the Padres are 4-1 in their last five during Game 4 of a series, so I’ll give them the edge.
