The Skinny:
Tough night for the Yankees last night, but that means it's an opportunity for bettors everywhere. The Yankees are 4-1 in their last five after scoring two runs or less in their previous game and the Yankees are 4-0 in JA Happ’s last four starts with four days of rest. . . . This is a crossroads game because the Phillies are across the state from the Pirates and just finished up a road series with the Cardinals. That too much of a stretch? Oh well. The Pirates are 4-0 in their last four road games vs. a right-handed starter and the Cardinals are 1-6 in their last seven overall. . . . The Braves are 5-0 in Mike Soroka’s last five road starts, 5-1 in his last six starts on grass and 6-1 in his last seven overall. Not to mention that the Braves are 4-1 in their last five games vs. a right-handed starter. That’s enough for me. . . . Patrick Corbin is on the mound for the Nationals in Los Angeles, and typically when you can get him plus money is a good investment. Rich Hill has impressive stats (the Dodgers are 11-0 in Hills last 11 starts vs. National League East) but sometimes you have to just play the hunch.
