How and Where to Bet on Sports in New Jersey
After Las Vegas, New Jersey has the most brick-and-mortar places to physically bet on sports and also the most mobile apps. Below are the apps that we recommend. You must be 21 to bet and you must be physically in the state of New Jersey when you place your mobile bet.

Other apps and sports books are planned for New Jersey, to open in 2019 or later.
Although some of the sports books are affiliated with the same odds providers, many use different sources and it is often good to shop around for the best odds for your particular bet. A prop bet may be 15-1 through one sports book and 20-1 through another. Additionally, not all books will offer all the same sports or all the same prop bets.
With regard to mobile apps, they look different and can function differently. Check out a number of mobile apps and pick the one(s) you like best and best suit your needs.
In the coming months, our team will begin telling you what we like and don’t about each app and occasionally we’ll play the role of arbitrageur when different apps are offering different odds.
Colleges
As in other states which have legalized sports betting, betting on New Jersey college teams is prohibited on New Jersey apps and at New Jersey sportsbooks. If Monmouth is playing Seton Hall, for instance, you would have to go to neighboring Pennsylvania and have an account there to bet on that game. If Seton Hall is playing Villanova, you will not be able to bet on that game in either state.
Esports
Right now, it’s not a big deal and it’s difficult to find lines on Esports contests. In a year or two as more big, corporate players get into Esports and the Esports companies build their leagues and fan bases, betting will certainly become more of a factor.
