Wednesday’s Race Recap from Churchill Downs:

(All odds US)

Churchill Downs:

Race 1: 7th@ 18.97/1

Race 5: 4th@ 15.21/1

Race 8: 8th@ 8.43/1

In Race 1, Seventeensevintysix raced two wide, shifted outside to the four path at the three furlong pole then fanned seven wide entering the lane before tiring. In Race 5, Wellman broke slowly and shied from an inner rival at the start. He raced towards the rail along the inside, shifted to the four path entering the lane, then improved between tiring rivals in the final furlong. In Race 8, Unsolved Mystery prompted three wide, vied around the turn, led nearing the lane but hung on his left lead while vying between horses in upper stretch and yielded in the final furlong.

Let’s take a Thanksgiving crack at some Thursday races. I’ll be handicapping for fast conditions and no turf racing. Let’s get to work!

Churchill Downs:

Race 12: Parade Down Broad - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 8/1)

Maiden two-year-old fillies sprint 5½ furlongs and I’m zeroing in on a debut runner from the barn of Brendan Walsh named Parade Down Broad. This daughter of Liam’s Map is out of a dam who was stakes placed as a two-year-old. Aside from owning this field’s top Tomlinson figure, this miss has a solid worktab with a pair of five furlong works punctuated by two four furlong workouts most recently. Trainer Walsh knows how to connect with a debut runner and his record with two-year-olds is 15% but he does particularly well with two-year-old dirt sprints here at Churchill Downs where his barn has won 2 of 6 over the last 5 years (33%) at an average payoff of $21.86.

Best of luck to all our members playing Thursday’s races from Churchill Downs!
