Saturday’s Race Recap from Kentucky Downs:
(All odds US)
Kentucky Downs:
Race 1: 5th@ 30.90/1
Race 8: 10th@ 14.05/1
Race 10: 3rd@ 11.84
Race 12: 7th@ 4.50/1
In Race 1 Abundant Life was reserved off the early pace between horses, raced inside into the stretch and rallied nicely for fifth beaten a neck and a nose for third in a race that will set her up well for future efforts. In Race 8 Bat Flip broke last then stalked and tired late. In Race 10 Bad Beat Brian shot to the front and led through punishing fractions battling gamely all the way down to the line beaten about 1/2 length for all the money. In Race 12 Therapist stalked the pace and didn’t fire.
Let’s close out this quiet week of racing with a Sunday card from Kentucky Downs. We’re expecting firm turf once again. We’ll take one more crack at Kentucky Downs. Let’s get to work!
Kentucky Downs:
Race 10: Cynane - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 5/1)
The Global Tote Juvenile Fillies at a mile for two-year-olds is our co-feature and will be a major prep for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. Unlike the male-counterpart to this race there’s not an abundance of early speed here. Enter Cynane (pronounced “Kee-nan-eee” and is the name of Alexander the Great’s half-sister). History lessons aside, Cynane has raced twice and she has shown speed in both starts while sprinting. She looked great breaking her maiden first time out at Belmont and connections gave her a shot in the Grade 2 Queen Mary at Royal Ascot. She didn’t embarrass herself finishing 10th of 26 and looks very much the controlling speed today. She’s got plenty of strong works leading up to this and if we can get 5/1 odds or better, I’d give her a long look.
Best of luck to all our members playing Sunday’s races from Kentucky Downs!
