Quite an amazing Breeder’s Cup Saturday. Win bettors we’re treated to an 11/1 win by Aloha West and a win by Life is Good but EW and across the board bettors saw our selections finish either first, second or third in all ten races today including 24/1 and 28/1 shots. Not an easy thing do to with so many 14 horse fields.

Here’s the recap:

Cupid’s Claws began our day with the Marathon which was Race 2. He stalked the pace but after his entry-mate scratched, the expected speed dual never developed. He ran his race and finished third. In Race 4, defending champion Gamine was under the gun from the start, got pushed to the limit by Bella Sophia, put that one and Edgeway came to challenge. Meanwhile, CeCe revved up and blew by in the stretch. In the Turf Sprint, Golden Pal broke fast and nobody could run with him. Once again we ran third with our 25/1 Charmaine’s Mia.

In the Dirt Mile, Life is Good went to the lead, set fast fractions and drew away in the end under wraps. ULTRA impressive 🔥🔥🔥. In the F&M Turf, War Like Goddess got the pace to run at and made her move on the turn before getting run down by Japanese superstar - Loves Only You giving us our fourth third place finish on the day. Aloha West got us our second victory on the day (every runner has hit the board so far!) winning the Breeder’s Cup Sprint in dramatic fashion winning a close photo vs. Dr. Schivel. In the Turf Mile, our selection - Ivar sat mid-pack and exploded past horses in the stretch to outrun his 24/1 odds to get us our unprecedented 5th third place finish of the day (so far!) In the Distaff, they ran suicidal fractions and Malathaat was there at the end but could only manage third. In the Breeder’s Cup Turf, Broome swept to the lead turning for home and opened up 4 on the field before getting nipped at the end by Yibir. In the Breeder’s Cup Classic, Knicks Go went to the early lead and had no pressure so he was able to lead coast to coast. Essential Quality ran his eyeballs out to manage third.

Okay, enough pomp and circumstance. It was great to close out the major races of the American racing calendar but it’s time to get back to our regular scheduled programming. Let’s take a look at Sunday’s races from Churchill Downs where we expect a fast main track beneath sunny skies.

Sunday picks for Churchill Downs:

Race 7: Curbs and Cones - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 2/1)

Starter allowance race for two-year-old fillies going 6 1/2 furlongs and our selection is coming off an 11 length score at Keeneland where she produced the field’s top speed figure by a full eleven points over the next closest contender. She owns the speed on the rail and there doesn’t look like anyone close to her on paper. I like the fact that her connections don’t offer her for sale this time. If you can get 2/1 odds, they’re strong value here.

Race 8: The Feature - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 10/1)

$30k claimers go 6 furlongs and this field's top two speed figures belong to the 10/1 shots on the inside and outside. Our selection (the runner on the outside) earned his top speed figure at this track and has a slightly better speed figure at the distance than the rail runner. He’s also been working well. 10/1 odds on this gray son of Race Day look like a good bet.

Race 9: Amendment Nineteen - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 8/5)

Here’s another race like Race 7 where there’s a large chasm between our favorite and everyone else. Amendment Nineteen has top connections and the strongest races on paper. Lady Traveler may be the only scare as she looks to be the controlling speed in a race without much pace but Amendment Nineteen’s class should carry the day for her.

Best of luck to everyone playing Sunday’s races from Churchill Downs!
