Fillies and mares 3-4-5-6yo going 7F
This is the actual race that was scheduled for 12/16 before the track canceled the races that evening. #7 Morality Clause (4/1) gets his third try at CT tonight and has Reshawn Latchman for the equal number of attempts. The most expensive entrant today at $40K, he’s had ten times at getting his diploma and his best came early in his two-year-old season. That said, his past two attempts saw him go off as the favorite and disappointed both times, with his last being a dramatic improvement. He put in a solid :36.4 work twelve days ago and his form is starting to come into cycle. Except for this Verrazono filly, this race is absent of speed, so look for the jockey to get her out early and slow the pace. #6 Callinghercollins (6/1) has shown some early speed and is stretching out ½ furlong more. 17% winner Christian Hiraldo takes over for Arnaldo. Look for a slice if the purse in this. A must have in your exotic play is #3 Castle Review (10/1) the connections returned this filly to Joseph Alsbrook’s barn and comes out of a key race. Of the races Alsbrook trained her, she produced greater numbers than future or past trainers failed to do. My choice, as well as the betting public, is #2 Pyrrhic Victory (8/5) Irish shipper moved to CT and had an outing with 1st Lasix on November 21st. Given that she was 5/1 in the betting, her place result was impressive after racing her three previous in typical deep Irish turf. Today’s distance should be welcome and Bocachica 28% winners, with Runco as trainer, 29%, and the icing on the cake is three of the returning runners in her last, have all improved their numbers in the next race. She’ll win and will take a lot of money; however, you’re not going to become Warren Buffet betting this.
State bred girl horses 3yo↑ going 7F
Was prepared to have interest in #5 Letts to Dixies (6/1) due to her being the only entrant not in for a tag. Digging deeper, she has raced against state breds in allowance races at 4.5F and summarily faded in each. Adding 2.5F with the same jockey is not doing her a favor. Pass. #1 Skylar’s Trick (4/1) showed good late kick in her last on December 4th and returns to the same level. Sixth leading rider Sunday Diaz in the irons and it’s expected for this Unbridled’s Song filly to get a piece of the pot. #3 Sherwood Lady (5/2) is the lone speed in this and returns after just one week where her trainer is 16% coming back this quick. Her record of 13:3-0-4 for $61K bests this group and she’s rich in CT experience. My choice is #2 Imagoodchatterbug (3/1) is 12:3-1-3 at this distance and recently got beat versus open allowance company snapping her four-race winning streak. Two back, Luis Batista scored with her in a longer N1X optional claimer and scored three back at this same distance. Look for her to stay near the pace and catch the lead coming into the far turn.
3yo↑ going 7F
This is going to come down to three favorites, #11 Shamrock Kid (9/5) #6 Sound Off (6/5) and #8 Gio Dude (4/1). Gio Dude has Bocachica/Runco (28%) connection. Shamrock Kid was claimed at Monmouth, moved immediately to CT and has made easy work of his two races thus far. Sound Off has the 28% tandem of Petroche/Sandoval. Regardless, they will have to catch #5 Schlosser (8/1) and #9 Lion Lord (15/1). I am going to put an exotic wager on #3 Singanothersong (15/1) Denis Arujo gets his second look on this and his drop in class may get him in the money. For the win, Shamrock Kid is in great form and will steer the course in wins.
