Thoroughbreds Tuesday: It’s going to be a beautiful day at Parx. Let McMudder help you pick some winners

If Sunday was quiet, then today remains downright silent. Parx is the only live venue in the area and many of the Parx connections will be at Timonium buying 2 year olds at the FasigTipton sale. More action would be possible by having over and under lines on auction horses but that is for someone else to take on. Midatlantic buyers were busy at Timonium yesterday filling their stalls with prime 2-year-old runners. Names like Servis, Reid, Rice, Perkins, Capuano and Ritchey all showed up on purchases but a trainer from the Midwest, Kenny McPeek, went to $500K for a son of Street Sense. One more son of Street Sense in the sale, if you are interested.

Picks for May 21, 2019:

Gorgeous and cooler.

Parx Race 1
5-Iwishirish
drops to her lowest level to date and gets a very soft field. All of the stars look aligned for her to get off of her 2019 slide. Super aggressive connections drop to win and she looks well placed to do just that. 4-Dancing Cool and 3-Untouchable U both come from the barn of trainer Scott Lake, a master at changing things up with horses and getting them back into the winners circle. That return to form is needed for both of these and the trend line with the 4 is stronger.
$10 W/P/S 5-Iwishirish
$2 Exacta Box 3,4,5
$1 Trifecta Box 3,4,5

Parx Race 5
This first level allowance for PA breds has been previously attempted by most of the field but they are all still trying. Look for 5-Promised Storm to break through today as she gets both pace and post to fit her needs. Two out of towners may have a say in the final result as 4-Moon Chant enters from Penn National but gets a Maryland regular rider on board and 2-Miss Tschetter gets Massachusetts’ leading rider on a horse from Maryland although JD Acosta is a Maryland regular. These riders sure put some miles on their cars.
$10 W/P/S 5-Promised Storm
$2 Exacta 5/2,4
$0.50 Trifecta box 2,4,5

Mick’s Quickies

Parx Race 7 is a race that fits 3-Hey Marmaluke as long as she is patient and doesn’t get to the lead too soon. Her last race showed a stalking style and an improved result. Look for more of the same here.

Parx Race 9 is a Tuesday stakes race. How cool is that? As cool as yesterday’s? 4-Bethlehem Road enters off of two stellar showings and this is the next logical step up the ladder. Small barn, big dreams are great to see.
