Thoroughbreds Monday: If it’s McMudder and it’s Monday (and it’s raining) it must be Parx
A full Preakness field. How cool is that? When the top horses from the Derby don’t make the trip, every wannabe shows up. Time to start looking for some long odds on Preakness horses before reality sets in. This week will be all about getting ready for the big race days in Baltimore this week. There is a little of everything for the horse player including Graded Stakes on both Friday and Saturday on the same card with some usual Maryland fare. Bottom level maidens and G2 fillies on the same card on Friday. Curious what that will do to track variance for the day? Mick is too.

Slop is the word. Delaware was smart to not even card races today.
Parx Race 3
2-Billy Youre Fired gets Lasix for the first time after bleeding from the nostrils last out. Easy decision for the connections. The drop into claiming company may help even more than the Lasix. This barn remains red hot and the odds will come down from the morning line. 7-My Man Pots N Pans looks to repeat his last race in the slop but one better. The extra furlong should help, especially with the cut back from route races in his last two. He will be tough if the he can stay wide and clean while not losing too much ground. 3-Wilderness Gate has the best off track pedigree but that has not helped to date in the slop. Second start for a high percentage barn should help.

Parx Race 4
2-Enigmatica comes into this race second off the claim with a good effort last out. This one likes to run second but this group is not great and he may just need to get a decent trip from the inside post. 5-I Cried a Tear is first off the claim for a trainer yet to win such a race. A repeat of last time should hit the board. 6-Trapps Star moves to a new barn and should be close with these. He seems to run the same race, a mediocre one, each time.

3-Two Item Maker is being shipped to win. She is regally bred and trained by a top NY barn that wins when they ship. 5-Bucks Some is the best of the experienced fillies but that won’t matter to the 3.

4-Huascaran is another from the red hot Velazquez family. This one just looks better than the rest.
