The Masters: Guests Ron Jaworski and Fran Dunphy pick their winners at Augusta

Not only football and basketball guys, both are terrific golfers.

Because you certainly can’t live by my opinions alone, here’s what two other golfers who are way more well known than me had to say about the season’s first golf major:

Ron Jaworski, Eagle and ESPN great – “Normally I look for a dark horse at Augusta. But I keep coming back to Rory McIlroy. If every player played their best golf, Rory would win. His length plays well at Augusta and he is hungry!”

And of course you can always run into Jaws at one of his many golf courses in the Delaware Valley to say hi, share a cold beverage in the Seven Tap-Tavern and tell him what you thought of his pick. Especially if it wins.

And this, from another fellow who can hit that little white ball around pretty good, Fran Dunphy, the winningest coach in Big 5 history. And please don’t believe him if he tells you he’s more like a double-digit handicapper these days. I’d take him in my scramble any time.

“I’m not a very good picker,” he said, “but if my feet were to the fire I’d choose Francesco Molinari because of his ball-striking and accurate iron play. Hope that works.”

Sure does. Imagine that. An Irishman taking the man from Italy. You have to love it. Now if that only gets us to the bank.
