Four of the Phillies’ last five games at Citizens Bank Park have gone Over, and the one that didn’t was a nine-run contest when the total was 11. No reason to think that trend won’t continue Saturday, at least as far as the visiting team is concerned.
Opponents have scored 49 runs in Zach Eflin’s last five starts (7, 9, 12, 16, 5), so you can feel confident the Braves will get a chance hold up their end of the bargain.
The Phillies’ scoring offense hasn’t been seen in a week, having tallied just 12 runs over their last 53 innings. (By the way, that is the same number of runs Atlanta scored in eight innings the last time Eflin started against them.)
But there is good news for the home club . . . Dating back to the 15th inning of Tuesday’s game in Detroit, the Phillies as a team are batting .308 (24-for-78). They just aren’t getting the hits at the right times (4-for-18 [.222] RISP over the last two games).
Let’s hope that changes against Max Fried Saturday.
