The Thursday Philly Props: Phillies v Braves, an Over, an Under
We are seemingly going to contradict ourselves with a couple of Independence Day Props, because, quite frankly, solid reasoning has not done much for the retirement fund.
In his first eight starts of the season, Zach Eflin allowed a first-inning run just once (ERA 1:13).
In his last eight games, he has allowed a first-inning run six times (ERA: 7.88).
Braves’ starter Mike Soroka’s first inning ERA (2.57) looks real good until you see his ERA for the next three innings – 1.93 . . . 0.69 . . . 2.08.
So let’s go with someone putting a first-inning notch on the board Thursday.
Over the last eight Phillies games, there have been a total of 30 runs scored in the first five innings, an average of 3.75. That falls well below the 5.5 posted for the first five today.
An Over followed by an Under? Yeah, we know it is a slippery slope, but that’s what makes it fun. That . . . and winning.
Pick: Phillies-Braves First Inning Over 0.5 Runs ($5/-152)
Pick: Phillies-Braves First 5 Innings Under 5.5 Runs ($5/+106)
