Thursday Philly Props: Phillies’ Bryce Harper, Rhys Hoskins, Cesar Hernandez
Over the last four seasons, the only Phillies to homer on Opening Day have been Cesar Hernandez (2018, 2017) and Freddy Galvis (2017, 2016)
Hernandez was – and is – listed at 5-foot-10, 160 pounds . . . Galvis, now with the Toronto Blue Jays, was/is 5-10, 185.
Well, today the big boys take back GYOOD . . . Going Yard On Opening Day.
Bryce Harper (6-3, 220) will bat third when the Phillies take the Citizens Bank Park field in Game No. 1 (3 p.m. against the Braves) and have the first shot at it . . . Rhys Hoskins (6-4, 225), who has shaken off a sore left shoulder in spring training, will bat cleanup.
Oh yeah, fellows – no Phillie has ever hit two home runs in the same Opening Day game. But, we’ll settle for one. Each.
And if Hernandez asks, Scott Rolen is the only Phillie to ever homer in three straight Opening Days (1999-00-01).
Hmmmm . . . Harper, Hoskins, Hernandez . . . How can they not all Homer?
Pick: Harper to Homer ($2/+330)
Pick: Hoskins to Homer ($2/+310)
Pick: Hernandez to Homer ($1/+810)
