The 5th week of the EPL is coming in hot. With a few marquee matchups this weekend, we should be in for a fun weekend of games.
We should expect to start seeing the title contenders separate themselves from the pack as the weeks progress.
Today, we’ll reveal the opening odds and three best bets below for the EPL’s Week 5 schedule. Let's get into it!
The London Derby should be a fun, highly contested, matchup to start this weekend’s slate of league matches. Chelsea have been the winners in three of the last five matchups, including a 5-0 win in their last meeting.
Meanwhile, West Ham have struggled to this point, winning only one of their first four games.
Villa has won 3 of their first 4 league matches with their only loss coming to Arsenal. On the other hand, Wolves have been as bad as possible. They have lost 3 of 4 and had a draw against Nottingham Forest.
Villa is competing in Champions League play as well as League and Cup play, so it will be worth watching if they have the depth to keep up with their increased schedule in the coming weeks.
Newcastle has been red-hot in this matchup in recent years, winning the last 5 head-to-head matches. They also have been hot in League play, starting their season with 3 wins and 1 draw and sitting 3rd in the league table.
Fulham hasn’t been great, but they have played solid up to this point. They have secured 2 draws and a win paired with one loss.
It has been a mediocre start for both of these teams thus far with both of them looking for their first win. Everton has yet to score a point yet, with 4 losses in 4 games.
Leicester has 2 draws but is also still winless. This game has been high scoring in the past with 13 goals in their last 5 matches. The last time they faced off it resulted in a 2-2 draw, and 3 of the last 5 matches have ended in a draw.
Liverpool was off to a fast start but were shocked last weekend against Nottingham Forest in a 1-0 loss. Bournemouth has won only three of their last twelve games away from home in the Premier League.
Liverpool is the clear favorite here and I don’t see much hope for Bournemouth this weekend on the road.
Southampton is still seeking their first points in this season's new campaign. They also have only scored one goal in this season, so there are a ton of issues with this squad.
Ipswich haven’t been great, but they have managed to draw in their last two games.
Tottenham have gotten off to a very disappointing start this season, sitting at 13th in the league table. Their only win so far came against an Everton team that has lost all 4.
Brentford has been surprisingly solid so far. They have 2 wins and their other 2 losses came against title contenders in Liverpool and Man City.
Man U has gotten off to an up-and-down start this season, splitting their four games with two wins and two losses. Coming off of a 3-0 win on the road against Southampton should be a morale boost for the team though.
Palace have managed two draws in their last 2 games, but haven't kept a clean sheet yet this season.
This game will be much closer than the odds present. Forest is coming off an amazing win over Liverpool last week, and they have shown the ability to play great defense, holding Liverpool to no goals.
Brighton also has played great defense this season, allowing only 2 goals in 4 games.
Arsenal have back-to-back big games coming off a big win last weekend against Tottenham. This match will be a fun battle between two title contenders for this year's league championship, making it the marquee matchup for the week.
Arsenal is up against the odds though, their last win in Etihad Stadium was in January 2015.
Chelsea +110 over West Ham - Chelsea has been good since their opening loss to Man City. Meanwhile, West Ham has not been great. Chelsea have won 3 of the last 5 matchups in this series including a 5-0 win in the last matchup.
Manchester United +135 at Crystal Palace - Man U is coming off a great showing against a struggling Southampton team. Crystal Palace has yet to keep a clean sheet this season and are still seeking their first win.
Newcastle +145 at Fulham - Newcastle has been great so far this season and has dominated this matchup. Look for them to keep that streak going.
