UEFA Europa League Thursday: Celtic, Galatasaray, Rapid Wien, Žalgiais Vilnius among 12 teams in action

Anorthosis Famagusta (+265) v Rapid Wien (-110), draw (+260); St. Johnstone (+300) v Galatasaray A.S. (-105), draw (+220); Celtic (-385) v FK Baumit Jablonec (+800), draw (+480); plus 3 other matches.

Sean Miller

There were some interesting results Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League, which should have a knockdown effect on the other two tournaments come September.

Today, both the Europa League and Europa Conference League continue their qualification process. For the Europa League, this could be one of the strongest tournaments in recent history; of course, this is the first year of the Europa Conference League, and that too should be very interesting, with teams seldom seen in Europe.

I am going to pick two ties that look done and dusted today, hoping the teams are just that much clear of their opponents (they are, but lineups etc.) I like Rapid Wien and Celtic to cruise.

The other match I have an eye on is in Scotland, as double cup winners St. Johnstone take on Turkey's Galatasaray. This was a 1-1 draw in the first leg, but despite being the home team tonight, St. Johnstone is the underdog. I think that tells me something, so I will roll with the away side.
