Leicester City looks to complete three-day double over Chelsea to clinch UEFA Champions League
Just as all eyes of the world were on London Saturday for the F.A. Cup Final, the same will happen Tuesday, with the same two teams playing in the same city, with the stakes possibly even higher than they were on the weekend.
How can they be higher than a cup final, you say? Maybe you have not been watching the seismic events unfolding over the last month around the world of European football, but the game revolves around money.
Today, Chelsea and Leicester City will face off in what might end up being a $150 million match.
If Leicester City can pick up another win over Chelsea, after its 1-0 F.A. Cup Final victory on the weekend, the Foxes will clinch a spot in the top four, and a trip to the UEFA Champions League next season. Conversely, a Chelsea win could see the Blues jump Leicester, and sit in pole position to be in the top four. Of course both could make it if Liverpool finds a way to drop points in its final two, but after the events of the weekend, there is no way that is happening.
So this could be for all the marbles. Imagine Chelsea losing two cup finals and finishing fifth?
