Italy, emerging as intriguing pick to win EURO 2020, continues World Cup qualification
When you look at the odds for the upcoming EURO 2020 Tournament this summer, much of the talk has been about the five teams ranked in the top six of the current FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings: Belgium (first, 2018 World Cup semifinalist), France (second, World Cup champions, 2016 EURO runner-up), England (fourth, 2018 World Cup semifinalist), Portugal (sixth, 2016 EURO champion, 2019 Nations League champion), and Spain (sixth).
But two teams are going under the radar right now: Germany and Italy.
The Italians in particular are +1100 to win EURO 2020, possibly because of the path to the final if they win Group A. Right now, though, Italy is focused on the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, and has been doing a very good job so far: two 2-0 wins, two clean sheets, with another game today against a Lithuania side ranked 129th in the world.
Look for Italy to continue the clean sheet run.
