Premier League 2020-21 Odds: Sean Miller previews, picks against Liverpool repeating, and ponders Messi transfer to Manchester City

Man City is the favorite at -125. Or you could take a chance on West Bromwich Albion at +150000 and retire if they win it.

Sean Miller

After its first title in three decades, can Liverpool repeat as Premier League champions?

It took 30 years, but Liverpool finally made it to the top of the Premier League mountaintop.

Now, the challenge is staying there.

Since the English football pyramid reorganized for the 1992-93 season, there have only been three clubs that have been able to repeat as champions: Chelsea one time (2004-05 and 05-06), Manchester City one time (2017-18 and 18-19) and Manchester United six times, including two three-peats (1992-93 and 93-94; 1995-96 and 96-97; 1998-99, 99-2000, and 2000-01; 2006-07, 07-08, and 08-09).

Since the current owners of Manchester City took over in August of 2008, City has four titles, Chelsea three, United three, Leicester City one, and Liverpool one. It has been very hard now to repeat, as teams spend to try to catch the current champion.

This season will be no different, as Chelsea and Manchester City have been (and will be) throwing money around the world to catch Liverpool. The big news comes from City, where the biggest transfer in history could happen if Lionel Messi moves from Barcelona to Manchester. I actually thought that City would probably retool and catch Liverpool this year anyway, as Liverpool is not spending money to bolster its squad. But this will make the title race a mere formality.

Get Manchester City now, before the odds skyrocket.
