MADRID, Spain -- With the days of festivities over, Saturday will finally bring us the ultimate club football game of the season.
The UEFA Champions League final is in Madrid, but it is all about the Premier League. For only the second time, two English teams will contest the final (2008, Manchester United beat Chelsea, 1-1, 6-5 on penalties). This time, it is upstart Tottenham which is making a first appearance in the final, just like Chelsea had in 2008. Liverpool has won this five times, and was the beaten finalist last year.
Liverpool defeated Tottenham twice this season, 2-1 both times, the most recent at the end of March. The Hotspurs come into the game in terrible form, besides their miracle second half comeback in Amsterdam. Tottenham has won just two of eight, with the only other victory down the stretch a 1-0 win over a bad Brighton & Hove Albion team.
All signs are pointing toward a Liverpool win. Can Tottenham make history?
