Hurricanes vs Bruins and Maple Leafs vs Kraken: 5 NHL Player Prop Picks for Halloween

Halloween NHL Matchups: Best Player Prop Picks for Hurricanes vs Bruins and Maple Leafs vs Kraken

Matt Brown

Halloween night brings some exciting NHL action with the Boston Bruins facing the Carolina Hurricanes and the Seattle Kraken going up against the Toronto Maple Leafs

These matchups have some of the best player prop opportunities for the spooky night as bettors are looking to cash in on individual performances.

David Pastrnak Over 4 Shots on Goal

Odds for the Prop: -125

David Pastrnak is a volume shooter. On top of that, this is a game where his SOG totals should climb.

Pastrnak has consistently peppered goalies with an onslaught of shots, and facing Carolina provides him a great opportunity to do it again.

The Hurricanes are known for playing a fast-paced style that often leads to a lot of shot attempts on both ends of the ice. Carolina's recent home struggles against Boston add another angle here — Pastrnak will want to keep the pressure up. This is especially true if the Bruins find themselves pushing to get back into a rhythm on the road.

Expect Pastrnak to go well over 4 shots, as the pace of play and his offensive role on the team make this a strong line for him to clear.

Auston Matthews Over 1.5 Points

Odds for the Prop: +150

Few players can change a game like Auston Matthews. He’s been finding ways to score and assist consistently this season. Against the Kraken, Matthews has a pretty good shot at walking away with multiple points on the scoresheet.

The Kraken defense has been decent but not quite elite, and their expected starter, Philipp Grubauer, has been shaky, with a .881 save percentage between the pipes.

Toronto’s offense has been clicking, especially on home ice, where they generate a ton of scoring chances.

Matthews to record over 1.5 points at plus odds is a perfect value pick given his recent streak and the likely high-scoring potential in this game. He should have no problem racking up the Gs and As.

Mitchell Marner Under 0.5 Assists

Odds for the Prop: +100

Mitchell Marner is always a threat on the assist line, but going under 0.5 assists is the best bet here.

While Marner is talented at setting up plays, his recent numbers show that he’s had a bit of a slowdown in his assist production.

The Kraken, though fairly vulnerable defensively, could key in on Marner to prevent him from being the primary playmaker. This would force him into more of a scoring role or neutralizing his setup abilities. Additionally, Marner has gone under this assist line a few times this season, so it’s worth a shot at even odds for this prop bet.

The Kraken may focus on containing Toronto’s top playmakers, and if that strategy holds, Marner will undoubtedly struggle to get a single assist in tonight’s matchup.

Andrei Svechnikov Over 3 Shots on Goal

Odds for the Prop: -205

This prop doesn’t deliver the best odds, but we think it’s a sure shot.

Andrei Svechnikov returned to the lineup recently and should be ready to make an impact — particularly with his shot volume.

As one of Carolina’s dominant offensive weapons, Svechnikov will be looking to assert himself early and often. He’ll look to do this even more so back at home after an extended road trip.

The Bruins’ defense is strong, but they do tend to allow shots in bursts, and Svechnikov has the talent to break through for his shot total. Carolina’s need to create pressure should push Svechnikov to fire the puck often in this one.

Although the odds aren’t great for the bettor, Svechnikov's over 3 shots on goal is the closest thing to a sure-shot option given his volume and Boston’s recent defensive lapses.

Sidney Crosby Anytime Goalscorer

Odds for the Prop: +140

Sidney Crosby’s experience and offensive skill make him a nice anytime goalscorer pick against the Ducks.

Crosby has a nose for the net and nobody can argue that. To make matters even better for him, Anaheim’s goaltending situation has been hit or miss this season.

The Penguins are on a 6-game losing streak, and Crosby will be extra motivated to lead his team back into the win column. This makes this game a ripe opportunity for him to capitalize.

Crosby thrives in situations where he needs to step up, and he should have no problem finding his spots against a shaky Anaheim defense.

Taking Crosby to score at +140 provides not only good value but also a quick way to rack up some easy cash.
