Monday Night Football kicks off the 2024-2025 season with a matchup made for primetime. Future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers makes his comeback against the defending NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers in a battle that could be a sign for how the rest of each team’s season will go.
The Aaron Rodgers era in New York did not get off on the right foot (pun intended) as Rodgers went down with a torn Achilles. While Rodgers sat out, he watched a duo of 2nd year offensive stars explode.
The play of both Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall had Rodgers salivating for the opportunity to comeback and work them in this offense. The defense was strong and looks to have majority of their starters returning to their roles. If Rodgers can be effective, the Jets could be extremely dangerous this season.
The 9ers season ended unceremoniously as they were defeated in OT of the Super Bowl by the KC Chiefs 25-22. They did see Brock Purdy emerge as a franchise QB as he commanded an offense led by Christian McCaffery.
The resigning of Brandon Aiyuk this week was a huge relief for 9er fans and the 3-headed monster that he is a part of with Deebo Samuel and George Kittle provide a nice balance for the offense through the air.
The defense was one of the best in the league last season and if they can live up to their own expectations, do not be surprised to see this same 9ers team back in that big game come February.
While this Jets offense is going to be great at some point this season, we do not think it happens right out of the gate.
Against a weaker defense, they could get away with some of the rust they need to knock off, but this 49er defense will be out for blood against Rodgers and his young playmakers.
