2024 NFC East Betting Preview: Season Win Totals, Live Odds, and Our Best Bet

Our 2024 NFL preview series continues with our deep dive into the NFC East. Let's take a gander at each team's season win total and their odds of winning the division before delivering a best bet!

Mike Noblin

It's been 20 years since an NFC East team has won the division crown in back-to-back seasons. The Dallas Cowboys took home the title last year, so does that mean the deck is stacked against them in 2024? The Philadelphia Eagles certainly hope so.

Speaking of the Eagles, is this year that Jalen Hurts and Co. finally get over the hump? Will the Washington Commanders and the New York Giants remain in rebuilding mode for yet another season? Check out our betting preview below to find out!

Dallas Cowboys

Division Odds: +140 / Season Wins: 10.5

It's put up or shut up time for Mike McCarthy and his staff in Big D. The Cowboys once again followed up a fantastic regular season with a deflating early loss in the playoffs, this time at the hands of the Green Bay Packers. Both Jerry Jones and the Dallas faithful are sick of these early postseason exits.

It was the same old song and dance for Dak Prescott in 2023. He played remarkably in the regular season only to fold like a cheap tent in crunch time. Prescott is still a Top 10 QB, but he's got to find a way to quit turning the ball over in playoff games.

The Dallas offense will have its share of challenges in 2024. Not only did they lose Tony Pollard to Tennessee, but they're having to rebuild the offensive line. Drafting Tyler Guyton from Oklahoma was a good first step, but I'm still nervous about how well this line can protect Prescott.

I actually don't mind the change at DC from Dan Quinn to Mike Zimmer. The Cowboys had to do something after finishing slightly below average in yards per rush allowed a season ago. As a Cowboys fan I'd love to bet the Over 10.5 season wins, but this team has too many unknowns for me to pull that trigger.

New York Giants

Division Odds: +1000 / Season Wins: 6.5

It's been 13 years since the G-Men have won a division title and the natives are getting restless in East Rutherford. Daniel Jones continues to be a model of inconsistency. He looks phenomenal on one play and then will make a boneheaded throw on the very next down.

Is this the year that the Giants get it right? Unfortunately, things still look bleak, especially since they lost All World RB Saquon Barkley in the offseason. To pour salt into the wound, Barkley bolted for the division rival Eagles. Getting Malik Nabors from LSU was a great pickup, but sadly he may be the only real playmaker on this offense.

The G-Men defense was painful to watch in 2023, as they ranked just 27th in yards per play allowed. Moving on from Wink Martindale to Shane Bowen was probably the right move, but does this team have the horses to compete in a tough division? I don't think so!

Philadelphia Eagles

Division Odds: +100 / Season Wins: 10.5

The Eagles suffered the same fate as their archrival Cowboys last season. A solid regular season was ruined with a travesty of a performance early on in the playoffs against the Bucs. That loss stung so much that they went out and signed Saquon Barkley to bolster an already strong rushing attack.

The addition of Barkley should help QB Jalen Hurts quite a bit. The former Alabama star started to force way too many throws last season, as evidenced by his 15 interceptions. Having a proven commodity like Barkley to hand the ball off too should help remedy that issue in 2024.

The rest of Philly's roster is loaded. AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith are perhaps the best 1-2 WR punch in all of football. Darius "Big-Play" Slay, Jalen Carter, and Devin White are all superstars on defense. Throw in a fairly easy schedule and it's easy to see why I'm rolling with Philly Over 10.5 wins as my best bet for this division.

Washington Commanders

Division Odds: +1000 / Season Wins: 6.5

Is Dan Quinn ready to be an NFL head coach again? The Commanders sure hope so, as they hired him to replace Ron Rivera in the offseason. Washington continued its shakeup by bringing in Kliff Kingsbury to run the offense this year. How will the team look with all of these changes?

First round draft pick Jayden Daniels will be handed the keys to the kingdom from the get-go. The former Heisman Trophy winner has some nice weapons to throw to with folks like Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson stretching out defenses. Bringing in former Chargers RB Austin Ekeler should also help bolster this offense.

The problem with Washington will continue to be its defense. Sure, bringing in a veteran LB like Bobby Wagner will help, but this is still a squad that ranked next to last in yards per play allowed last season. With a fun-to-watch offense and a swiss-cheese defense, I'll be looking to play lots of Washington games over the posted totals.
