Thursday Night Football: Mims picks the New York Giants at Washington Football Team – Heinecke starts at QB

Two NFC East squads are depending on unproven offenses to get a win. Washington has the edge on defense.

Robert Mims

The NFL Thursday Night Football game has the New York Giants playing the Washington Football Team.

The numbers are Washington -3.5 with a total of 40.5. The money line is Washington -175 & New York +150.Washington is the home team. Teams have split their last two meetings with neither total going over 43.

Injury Report: Washington QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is out with a hip injury. RB Antonio Gibson was on the injury report list but was a full participant at practice. For the Giants, TE Evan Ingram is ruled out. RB Saquon Barkley was a limited participant.

Notes: This is the 1st opportunity for Washington QB Taylor Heineke to have extended playing time in his career. Giants QB Daniel Jones is under a microscope to show improvement. He has not had his full complement of off-season acquisitions together yet.

Coaching: Ron Rivera has the edge over Joe Judge.

Prop Bets: Heineke under/over passing yards set at 250.5. The price is under at -125. Take him under. Jones under/over completion set at 20.5. Take him under against the outstanding Washington defense. Price is -115.

My Take on the Game: Giants were bad last week on both sides of the ball. The short turnaround is not good for Barkley. The challenge for Washington is moving the ball offensively. Washington will dominate on defense. If the offense can sustain drives, this will be a Washington win. Take Washington minus the points and under.

Public Opinion: Washington is being taken by 54% of the people selecting this game. 68% of the money is in Washington.
