In the most anticipated matchup of the early part of this season, the SEC will feature a battle between 2 of their best programs who happen to both rank inside the top 5 teams in the country.
#2 Georgia will take on #4 Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium in a game that could be a preview of the SEC championship game or CFB Playoff matchup.
Georgia kicked off their season with an impressive 34-3 dominant win over then ranked #14 Clemson. After an easy matchup with Tennessee Tech, the Bulldogs got all they could handle at Kentucky where they were lucky to walk out with a 13-12 victory.
The Bulldogs were just 5-13 on 3rd down and were only able to get 262 yards of total offense. The defense struggled to stop the run and allowed the Wildcats to pick up 170 yards on the ground. They will need to be better here on the road against Bama.
The Crimson Tide have fared well since Kalen DeBoer has taken over for legend Nick Saban. Granted, they have not played a ranked team yet but have done what is expected of them nonetheless.
They are winning games by an average of 30.3ppg. Jalen Milroe has had a good grasp of the offense and has contributed to a run game that is 25th in the country with an average of 238 yards per game. That has helped lead them to averaging 49 points per contest, which is good enough for 6th in the country.
We have already seen this line dip down from 4.5 to 2.5 with the recent scare of Georgia against Kentucky. The Bulldogs did have a bye week which should leave them better prepared for this matchup in Tuscaloosa.
However, we like the way Jalen Milroe has been orchestrating this offense and the fact that they are at home should give the edge to the Tide here.
Milroe has a bonafide stud at wide receiver named Ryan Williams, and he could pose some problems for this UGA secondary. Give us the points, but we like Alabama to win this one outright.
Georgia is 0-7-1 ATS in their last 8 games played in September.
Georgia is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games on the road.
Alabama is 8-1 SU in their last 9 games against Georgia.
Alabama is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games at home.
