NCABB Wednesday: It’s Hall in the Homestretch

Pirates visit Xavier

Mark Eckel

XAVIER (+5) at SETON HALL (141), 7 p.m.
Pick:
Seton Hall (-5)

Let me come clean -- I’m kind of a fan of Seton Hall (16-9) and a huge fan of their star guard Myles Powell. With that said, I try to take my bias out of my picks because we’re talking money here.

In any event, I like the Pirates -- who have gotten right after a shaky middle of the season -- to cover against Xavier (13-13) at The Rock.

Seton Hall has won four of its last five games (and has covered all five) with the lone loss a two-point setback at Butler. The Hall is also 9-3 at home this season, while the Musketeers are just 2-6 away from home.

This has been a down year for a Xavier team that routinely wins 20 games a year and is a factor in the early rounds of the NCAA Tournament. Now they’re nothing more than a .500 team.

Look for Powell (21.0 points) and the Pirates to add to Xavier’s woes Wednesday and continue on their roll toward the Big East and NCAA tourneys.
