NCAAB: Eckel on the ACC - Seminoles hungry for Tigers

The Seminoles have won seven straight and six of the seven have been by nine points, or more

The Pick: Florida State (+2)

Outside of Duke, Florida State (20-5) is the hottest team in the ACC.

The Seminoles have won seven straight and six of the seven have been by nine points, or more. The winning streak started with a 68-59 win over Clemson and it should not end with Tuesday’s rematch with the Tigers (15-10).

Florida State is a respectable 4-3 on the road this season, including an impressive 18-point win against Syracuse at the Carrier Dome during the recent win streak.

Clemson is 11-2 at home, but just 6-7 at home against the spread. The Tigers have also struggled this season against ranked opponents, winning just once (against Virginia Tech) in seven tries. Florida State is No. 16 in the latest poll.

Much of the Tigers problems of late has been scoring the basketball, as broadcasters like to say. In its last five games Clemson has averaged just over 57 points. That’s not going to cut it against a Florida State team that has scored 80, or more, in three of its last four games.
