Do the words Robby Benson . . . Annette O’Toole . . . Seals and Crofts mean anything to anybody. Well, they should. Fort Collins, the home to CSU, was where a lot of the 1977 movie One on One was filmed. It starred a very young Benson, O’Toole and had a slam dunk soundtrack by Seals and Crofts that still gets played often in at least one house. (Mine.)
These Rams are led by 6-11 junior center Nico Carvacho, who scores 15.9 points a game, leads the nation in rebounding (12.3), shoots 60% from the floor and still manages to dish (four assists twice in his last five games).
You’d probably be hearing more about him if he made more than 53% of his free throws or played for a better team (7-11).
The seventh-ranked Wolf Pack (18-1) remain one of five schools in the country with just one loss (Michigan, Houston, Virginia, Tennessee) and that could stay that way well into March. Jordan Caroline (18.3 ppg, 9.8 rpg) and Caleb Martin (18.1 ppg) will see to that.
