How to Maximize Your Welcome Offer

You’ll notice it’s not just $150 in spendable cash when you get your welcome offer. There will be six $25 tokens you can wager with. These tokens only last 7 days after you get them, so don’t try to hold on to them. You should find some games you like and toss them on there. We’d recommend sticking to straight-up bets with these. Parlays may be exciting and have massive payouts, but you’re far less likely to hit a parlay than a straight-up bet. So it's up to you whether you want to bet on the NBA, NHL, NFL, or pro ping pong. You aren’t locked into just betting on the NBA with these tokens.

Don't lock up all your bets on one event, though. Spread them around on games with solid odds. The whole goal here is to take FanDuels money, and you only have to hit a few bets. Aim for games that have money line or spread options around the -110 mark. If you find something near even, say +120, that’s also a fair option. Just be sure you’re not making bets on lines lower than -400. Since these are a free bets, you won’t be awarded the “staked” portion of the bet, aka the $25. You’ll only receive the winnings, so if you toss your tokens at a “sure thing” with a massive minus line, you may only make a dollar or two. Sticking to favorites near even money is the best way to win money off these bets.

Betting Advice for the NBA

When betting on the NBA, there are a lot of things to consider. First and foremost, matchups. You must consider rosters, injuries, and travel schedules to find value on the NBA lines. Be sure not to bet games too far in the future; injuries can often widely change lines and games. We always recommend checking ESPN or another news site to see the latest injuries for a match. Trust us, there is no worse feeling than making your bet and then learning a star player is out for the game.

Travel can be important too. Home teams will usually receive a slight advantage in the betting odds, but this isn’t always the case. Looking for teams on the second night of back-to-backs or at the end of a long road trip can help you find value.

Look up team history as well. Check to see if two teams have played before this season. Previous matchups aren’t always significant indicators of the future, but they can provide some helpful data. Seeing if one team has dominated another can sometimes help you determine where to put your money.

Lastly, avoid parlays. They may be tempting, but the odds you get are often terrible. We advise you to stick with straight-up bets, even when taking player prop bets. If you are going to make a parlay, we at least suggest you keep it to three legs max. Once you start getting over three, your odds drop significantly.
