Phoenix Suns at Philadelphia 76ers, 7 pm Eastern

The Pick: Philadelphia -1 (-108), bet $16.20 to win $15

Essentially a moneyline bet on the team that’s playing at home and who didn’t play last night. Philadelphia has been thriving despite all the drama surrounding any possible trade of its malcontented point guard Ben Simmons. The Sixers have won seven of their last ten, six of nine as a favorite. The Suns are tremendous, but they’ve been on the road for almost a week and they had to battle the Bulls in Chicago in a close one last night. Sixer center Joel Embiid is making an M.V.P. case, and tonight’s a showcase game. Sun center JaVale McGee will not be able to contain him. In that vein…

Player Prop: Joel Embiid over 31.5 points (-116), bet $17.40 to win $15

Los Angeles Clippers at Memphis Grizzlies, 8 pm Eastern

The Pick: Memphis -8 (-110), bet $16.50 to win $15

I could’ve grabbed this last night when the line was only 7.5 points, but I’m still taking it even ticked up half a point. Currently, Memphis is the third seed in the Western Conference and has really been the great surprise of the NBA this season. The Grizzlies are 19-9 at home, 17-11 against the spread at home, and 21-9 as a favorite. Tonight kicks off a three-game road trip for Los Angeles, where they are 11-15. The Clippers are still without Kawhi Leonard and Paul George and are really just trying to hang on in their absence. Memphis continues to impress me as a team that doesn’t take nights off. They won’t do it tonight.

Detroit Pistons at Dallas Mavericks, 8 pm Eastern

The Pick: Dallas -11.5 (-106), bet $15.90 to win $15; Dallas -700, bet $15 to win $2.14

Dallas is on a little bit of a roll, beating both Philadelphia and Atlanta in the last four days, part of a 5-2 slate at home in their last seven games. They’re within sight of a home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Detroit, on the other hand, is 4-23 on the road, winning only two of their last twenty. The Pistons have lost nine of twelve at Dallas. They’re missing Cade Cunningham, their leading scorer, and they’ll be looking forward to the All-Star break in a week. The Mavericks cruise.

New York Knicks at Denver Nuggets, 9 pm Eastern

The Pick: Denver -8, bet $16.50 to win $15; Denver -330, bet $15 to win $4.55

New York has lost three in a row, and just got done blowing a fourth-quarter lead to the Utah Jazz last night. Knick forward Julius Randle has regressed from his stardom of last season, is snapping at reporters and knocking tablets away from assistants in the huddle. I don’t think a back-to-back on the road against a Denver team that’s won five of their last seven and six of their last nine against the spread, is the answer to his woes. Nikola Jokic is having another MVP-like season, and the Nuggets smacked the Knicks in New York in December, 113-99. New York is reeling.
