NBA Recap - Mims on Games 1 and 2, Warriors, Raptors, Kahwi Leonard, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Kyle Lowry

Robert Mims

The series is tied at one game each after the Warriors took Game 2 Sunday night from the Raptors. The Dubs went on a 18-0 run to start the third quarter, holding Toronto scoreless for nearly six minutes. But the game was costly to Golden State. Kevon Looney and Klay Thompson both left with injuries and did not return.

The Raptors made a significant adjustment by going to a box-and-one style defense on Step Curry to deny him the ball. That strategy will not work all game but can be effective when Curry is the only scorer on the floor. The Warriors countered with Klay Thompson on Kawhi Leonard to start the second half. This fueled the big run.

DeMarcus Cousins played well and dominated the Raptors frontline. Draymond Green was one assist shy of a triple double. Pascal Siakam continued his pattern of not having great games back-to-back. Kyle Lowry fouled out with 3:50 left in the contest.

Raptors should be up 2-0 after playing so well in Game 1 and having control of Game 2. The Warriors showed the grit of a champion by fighting back. The bench played extremely well and will have to do so if Thompson and Looney are not able to go. I expect Kevin Durant to play in Game 3 or 4. I picked the series to go six games so that is on track. I also found a prop bet of the Raptors +2.5 games in the series. Just one more win by the Raptors and that is a cover.

I will preview Game Three on Wednesday. Follow me on Twitter.
