WIZARDS (+5.5) at NETS (237.5), 7:30 p.m.
Pick: Nets (-5.5)
The Nets (32-30) have been one of the best teams in the NBA at covering point spreads entering Wednesday’s contest with Washington at 35-27 ATS and are sitting comfortably in the sixth position in the East with 20 games remaining. Contests like Wednesday are ones that the Nets should win if they’re going to stay solidly above the playoff line.
It’s been a lost season for Washington (24-36) with John Wall on the shelf, integrating Jabari Parker and Bobby Portis into its rotation after a midseason trade shipped Otto Porter to Chicago and continuous questions about the job security of Scott Brooks. None of that makes of us feel good about backing Washington on the road and unsurprisingly the Wizards are 9-22 ATS away from the nation’s capital.
Don’t overthink this one. Take the Nets.
BUCKS (-5.5) at KINGS (234.5), 10 p.m.
Pick: Kings (+5.5)
From one team that covers a bunch of point spreads to a couple more. The Milwaukee Bucks and Sacramento Kings are the top two teams respectively ATS in the NBA. They meet Wednesday in Sacramento and both teams have different motivations in the final six weeks of the regular season. Milwaukee will be looking to lock up the top seed in the East as the Bucks (46-14) are just two games clear of Toronto entering this action.
Sacramento is trying to secure a playoff berth out west as the Kings (31-29) are one game below the playoff cut line coming into Wednesday’s game. We’ve written in prior handicaps after the All-Star break about wanting to back teams on the playoff bubble as we head for home. The Kings were one of those teams and covered easily for us in Golden State last week. We’re on them again as a two-possession dog against Milwaukee in a game they may win outright on their home floor.
