Best Bet: Orioles (+115)

BAL at NYM - 7:10 PM EDT

I was a little shocked to see Balty as an underdog in this spot. No, I'm not a big Dean Kremer fan, but this Orioles team is more solid than the Mets from top to bottom. New York does have a nice edge with its bullpen but that's the only advantage they have in this spot.

Baltimore's offense should be able to produce some runs against veteran lefty Jose Quintana. The O's don't have an easy out in their lineup, and they rank 3rd in runs scored and 5th in hits this season. Balty also ranks 2nd in WRC+ against southpaws in 2024.

The Mets offense has been shockingly good this season, but I still see them as a notch or two below this Orioles lineup. New York has only won 4 of its last 10, so this is great spot to fade them. Give me the O's at plus money!

Best Bet: Brewers (+118)

MIL at STL - 7:45 PM EDT

Betting on Frankie Montas is about as scary as the old Friday the 13th movies used to be. That being said, he did cash a nice prop ticket for us against the Braves a few days ago. Montas isn't great, but the move from Cincy to Milwaukee looks to have done him some good.

Erick Fedde was a nice pickup for St. Luay at the trade deadline, but he hasn't pitched very well so far for the Red Birds. Fedde has given up 10 earned runs over his last 3 starts and this Brewers lineup could give him lots of problems.

Speaking of this Brew Crew lineup, they rank 10th against righties this season and 13th in WRC+ over the last month. The Cards rank just 12th and 20th, respectively. Milwaukee is also 57-33 against right-handed starters in 2024. The wrong team is favored here!

Best Bet: Red Sox (+118)

BOS at HOU - 8:10 PM EDT

Man, it sure feels weird fading Houston just one day after riding them. However, I like Nick Pivetta quite a bit more than Ronel Blanco. Sure, Blanco's ERA is much lower, but Pivetta has better command and a higher strikeout percentage (30% vs 24.2%).

Boston is kind of a hard team to figure out this season. They're offense is almost elite against righties (5th in WRC+), but just so-so against lefties. Since the BoSox get to face a righty on Tuesday in Blanco, I think this is a great spot to back them at a plus price.

Houston's offense has come to life lately after slumping for much of July. That said, Boston ranks 4th over the last month in WRC+ while Houston ranks 9th. The Astros are the better overall team, but I think the BoSox take this one with Pivetta on the hill.
