MLB Betting Preview: 3 Best Bets for Thursday, July 4

Andrew Elmquist

Happy Fourth of July, everyone! There’s nothing better than hanging out with family and friends during this yearly holiday. While fireworks and barbeque are certainly part of the tradition, baseball is another big piece of this historic day.

This year, every team in the league has a game, making for a full day of non-stop baseball action. With that in mind, we have put together our best bets from the action, all of which can be found on DraftKings.

Cheers to you and yours, let’s put together a clean sweep of the board and put some extra cash in our pockets to kick off the month!

New York Yankees (-170) over Cincinnati Reds

1:05 PM EDT

We weren’t sure we would take the moneyline in this game considering it opened at -190, but now that it has dropped down to -170, we’re jumping all over it.

The Yankees are playing well after a cold stretch, and while the Reds can certainly play some good ball, their bullpen leaves something to be desired.

We’re riding with the Yankees in this one, especially since they’re the home team in this matchup.

White Sox at Guardians OVER 8.5 (-110)

1:10 PM EDT

This is, by far, one of our favorite plays on the entire slate. The red-hot Guardians are taking on the White Sox, who aren’t exactly the best team in the league.

The Guardians can certainly hit a lot when needed, and their starter, Ben Lively, also holds a 3.03 ERA on the year.

We wouldn’t be surprised if he gave up three or four to the White Sox but are confident in the Guardians’ ability to score at least five in this one, which is why we’re taking the over on the total runs line.

Brewers at Rockies UNDER 10.5 (-115)

8:10 PM EDT

We know, we know, the Coors effect… Blah, blah, blah. Scoring 11 total runs in any MLB game is a tall feat, even for a team like the Brewers at Coors Field.

The Rockies might not have the best pitching staff in the league, but with their lackluster offense in mind, there’s just no way we’re comfortable taking the over here.

If the line was 9.5, sure, we might entertain it, but 10.5 is too high for our liking, which is why we’re taking the under.
