Well, I hope everyone had a good Father’s Day – I know I was distracted long enough where I didn’t get my bets or picks in time yesterday and for that, I apologize.
I want to welcome a new partner in crime – @RicksPicks44 has his first MLB article up on Bettors Insider today and you can read it here!
Looks like the BA in MLB is up over 20 points since the “crackdown” on pitching started and strikeouts are significantly down. I’m waiting for the first star pitcher to get suspended to see the reactions. I haven’t seen any odds on who the first pitcher will be – anyone?
Athletics @ Rangers, 8:05 pm ET
The A’s Frankie Montas is the one to look at in this matchup. With the exception of one outing in Colorado (which we know doesn’t count for anything) he’s been striking out 6 to 11 people a game pretty regularly. So why am I going with the under line for him? I don’t think his stuff matches his K rate and I think an adjustment is due. I’m taking the under 5.5 K line and +118 at Barstool Sportsbook.
Brewers @ Diamondbacks, 9:40 pm ET
To date this has been the season of the pitcher (maybe not anymore, but this first half has been something) with many setting personal records – but not the DBacks Merrill Kelly. With a 2-7 record and a 5.40 ERA I almost want to hand him the sticky stuff to see if it will help. He has faced these Brewers before – and struck out 4 over 6. I’m going to take the under 5.5 and +105 from BetMGM.
Dodgers @ Padres, 10:00 pm ET
Gotta put some money on San Diego star Yu Darvish – but once again with the under-drum. He’s great and I love to watch him pitch, but his K rate has decreased to a standard 5 K a game guy. In fact, he has had 5 Ks per start in 4 of his last 5 starts. I’m going to take the under 6.5 strikeouts and -114 from the folks at DraftKings.
