I’m too late to pick Corbin Burnes, which is a shame. He is on fire! Not as thrilled with the rest of the starting pitchers left, but I think there is money in them thar hills. Here are my thoughts…
Yankees @ Rays, 7:10 pm ET
The Rays are throwing our Rich Hill to face the red-hot Yankees and the way NY has been pitching they don’t need more than a run or two to win. That said, these Yankees do strike out a lot – so what does the line look like? Well, it looks like 5.5 – which seems too high to me. In his last 5 starts Hill has only topped 4 once – so maybe he gets to 5, but I won’t take the over. Take the under 5.5 at -120 at BetMGM.
Rangers @ Astros, 8:10 pm ET
Christian Javier is starting for the Astros tonight and while his ERA has fluctuated greatly, his K rate has been fairly constant. Even struggling as he did last outing against the Blue Jays, giving up 5 runs over 5.1 innings, he still struck out 8. The over/under is set at 6 and FanDuel is offering +106 for the over and I’ll put a few greenbacks on it.
Marlins @ Diamondbacks, 9:40 pm ET
My last pick of the day is probably the one I’m least confident in. Trevor Rogers is starting for the Marlins and he’s been a good K horse to ride – thus far he has 50K in 38 innings. He only had a cup of coffee in the majors last year, so you have to look at him as a rookie, and I try to stay away from betting on rookies. There just isn’t enough data to make a good prediction. That said, I just don’t like him against this Arizona team and expect an outing of 5 innings and 5-6 K at most. Here are the two options I’m flipping a coin in-between – under 6.5 from BetRivers at -155 OR under 7.5 (which I’m more confident in) at -215. My coin flip has me taking the under 6.5 – but I’m giving you the choice of what to do.
