In Thursday night baseball, Gensler picks the Angels v Mariners, Royals v Rangers, Indians v White Sox and Mets v Dodgers

First game starts at 8:10 pm EDT

Howard Gensler

Favorite of the day: Angels @ MARINERS Under 5 first 5

Expecting a good start bet of the day: Royals @ RANGERS Under 5.5 first 5

Neither starter has been special bet of the day: Indians @ WHITE SOX Over 8.5

No bullpen bet of the day: Mets @ DODGERS Over 8.5

The Skinny: Once again I return with a quartet of Over/Under bets. I mean I like the Dodgers to beat the Mets tonight but to bet $260 to win $100 just doesn’t do it for me. So I’ll take my 11-5 record as a pinch hitter and returns to the runs column. It’s not too often you get two starters with ERAs under 4as you do with Felix Pena and Yusei Kikuchi so Im going to hope both stay true to form in Seattle. . . . This one’s a little riskier but Mike Minor (2.55 ERA) has been a solid starter for Texas, I just need Royal Jakob Junis to not get rocked early. . . . When your two starters have a combined ERA over 12 how do you not take the Over. Granted Indian Carlos Carrasco can put up goose eggs, he just hasn’t done it consistently. White Sox starer Manny Banuelos has given up 24 earned runs in his last 15 innings. Yikes. . . .With Hyun-Jin Ryu (7-1, 1.65 ERA starting for the Dodgers, I’m not expecting the Mets to score all the runs. They’ve got to be in a funk after last night’s debacle. But the Dodgers can score, so a 6-3 or 7-2 final doesn’t seem too implausible. One concern is that Met starter Jason Vargas (5.22 ERA) has been better lately. This last bet makes no logical sense after last night’s 9-8 thriller, but sometimes you have to be counter-intuitive.
