MLB Friday: Albert’s Quick Pitch Picks - Phillies v Royals, Brewers v Cubs, Braves v Diamondbacks, Nationals v Dodgers

Andrew Albert

Favorite Pick of the Day:
Phillies (-144) over ROYALS

Matinee of the Day
Brewers (+116) over CUBS

Trendy Pick of the Day:
DIAMONDBACKS (-132) over Braves

Are you sure? Pick of the Day:
Nationals (+167) over DODGERS

The Skinny:
The Phillies begin a stretch of 17 straight days of baseball, and I have a feeling Jake Arrieta will start them off with a win. The Phillies are 7-1 in their last eight games following an off day, while the Royals are 1-10 in their last 11 interleague home games. . . . There’s something about the afternoon at Wrigley. The Cubs are hot, but so are the Brewers. This one comes down to pitching: The Cubs are 1-5 in Jose Quintana’s last six Friday starts while the Brewers are are 4-1 in Gio Gonzalez’s last five starts after scoring five runs or more in their previous game Also, the Brewers are 5-0 in their last five games following a win. . . . Every single trend in this game points to the Diamondbacks. Literally every single one. Just a few to chew on: The Diamondbacks are 4-0 in Zack Greinke’s last four home starts, they are 8-2 in their last 10 games following a win, they are 7-1 in their last eight after allowing two runs or less in their previous game and they are 17-4 in Greinke’s last 21 home starts vs. a team with a losing record. . . . This one is only because the trends are bad for both teams, so why not get some great odds. The Dodgers are 1-4 in Kenta Maeda’s last five starts, 1-5 in Maeda’s last six starts after allowing five runs or more in their previous game and 1-5 in Maeda’s last six starts when their opponent scores 5 runs or more in their previous game.
