In the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile, Stage Raider didn’t get the break from his rail post and I’m not sure what their plan was but he was never involved as Cody’s Wish came with his breathtaking late run to run down National Treasure by a head. In the Filly and Mare Turf, Win Marilyn raced near the back of the pack, knifed through traffic at her 35/1 odds and was moving well late. Got beat a nose for third. In the Filly and Mare Sprint, Society battled for the early lead and took the lead turning for home but was swarmed by champion Midnight Olive and faded in the drive. In the Mile, Songline was in contention but couldn’t travel with the best of them late finishing fifth. In the Distaff, Le Da Vida was wide early and in contention when asked for run on the turn. Grinded home late closing with every stride to miss second by a nose at 16/1 and miss the win by 1/2 length. In the Turf, Onesto rated off the pace and came with his run but simply wasn’t as fast late as some of the others were. In the Classic, Dreamlike never contended while White Abarrio stalked and won off easy. In the Turf Sprint, Big Invasion was hampered from his rail post time and time again but still managed to get up and almost won losing by a fast-diminishing neck at 12/1 and in the Sprint, it was Elite Power taking over from Gunite for the win.

Let’s close out Breeders’ Cup week with some races from Aqueduct, where we’ve got a fast main track and a firm turf course.

Aqueduct:

Race 3: Billal - 2 pts win - BEST BET (US Morning Line Odds: 4/1)

The Nashua at one mile for two-year-olds also drew a field of five runners. I’m not totally convinced that our two morning line favorites want to go this far with Book’em Danno being sired by a turf sprinter and Private Desire out of a Wildcat Heir dam. Billal is one we had last time out and he won by 3+ lengths in impressive fashion. Sired by Street Cry out of a Bernardini dam I have little doubt about the distance for him. The bullet workout on October 28 is the exclamation point. I think he’ll get the trip off the speed and be able to run down his rivals for his first stakes win.

Best of luck to all our members playing Sunday’s races from Aqueduct!
