Thursday’s Race Recap from Belmont at Aqueduct:

(All odds US)

Belmont at Aqueduct:

Race 5: 11th@ 5.30/1

Race 8: 7th@ 8.90/1

Race 9: 7th@ 20.00/1

In Race 5, Isola made her move right into the hind-end of a rival taking-up and checking in the stretch while not being asked late. A steward’s inquiry was called on the eventual fourth place finisher who caused the interference and that rival was disqualified from fourth. It’s hard to think she was winning the race, but the infraction didn’t help her chances. In Race 8, Big Engine broke last and rallied only mildly as Mariachi won the speed battle and the war, racing with the pace from start to finish. In Race 9, Thatsmyboxer stalked and faded.

We’ll hit Belmont at Aqueduct for Friday’s races where we’re expecting fast and firm track conditions. I pored over the card three times and came up with two horses that looks like they should offer some value.

Tomorrow I’ve got TEN (based on the morning line). Let’s get started!

Belmont at Aqueduct:

Race 6: Rhombique - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 15/1)

Fillies and mares race a mile and three sixteenths on the turf and there are PLENTY of big-name trainers in this one BUT I like a five-year-old mare hailing from a lower profile barn. Rombique is trained by Bob Ribaudo, who’s underrated but who knows how to win with a turf runner when given the chance. Sometimes an obvious runner slips through the cracks and gets away at a price and that’s likely to be the case with Rombique who owns this field’s top three speed overall figures on turf, top three speed figures over the Aqueduct turf AND the top speed figure at today’s distance. It’s rare to have all three on a 15/1 shot but that’s the case today. Her recent form is muddied up, but she’s had trouble in her three starts this year. I’d give her a big look here to turn things around and upset this field at long odds.

Best of luck to all our members playing Friday’s races from Belmont at Aqueduct!
