Who will it be - #1 Bow Town Cat (5/1), #8 Fillupcohensapiker (3/1), #2 Sally O’Prado (12/1) or #7 Her Divineness (8/1)?
I’ll go with first off the claim for Kathleen DeMasi and #8. 15:6-1-0 for $169K at Parx and 21:3-6-2 for $179K at the distance looks in play.
#9 Mass Appeal (9/2) has second best last and second best overall numbers according to SmartCap. He drops from $7.5K in claiming to $5K and believe it or not, faces a little tougher competition today. Edwin Rivera takes over for Angel Rodriguez, who is on the #1 Thomas Knight (6/1). Obviously an 18% winning jockey to a 9% one was the jockey/agent choice, so we’ll see how that pans out. I was initially going to go with #5 Incubator (4/1) because of SmartCap numbers and the trainers high percentage win rate for first time claimees. However, This horse was claimed in June and although he has been working well, the fact that it’s been four months has given me pause. He will come out swinging with the #6 Colorado Grandslam (8/1), #3 Ironbound (12/1) and #4 Ride On Faith (3/1) all hitting the gas straight away. That is where #1 Thomas Knight comes in. Rodriguez has ridden him three times prior to last and has rated him carefully to position his closing kick to get the win in the lane. This 8yo is 11:4-1-0 for $86K at this distance and should get an ideal trip.
