I hope you all had a great weekend and a profitable one at that. Yesterday, if you bet the three Maiden Claiming horses as mentioned, you’d have done well with have A Heart at Saratoga dogging it and Coconut Grove paying $12.30 for the place. Sir Lorie Darlin won going away at Alb and paid $18.40 and $8.60.
Today, we are heading to Philly for Parx races 8-10.
#7 Street Appeal (5/1) has second best last race and is coming off a recent win on the 7th at Mth in the mud. He’s in good form right now and one to be included in your exotics.
#2 Love On Fire (5/2) has the numbers thru SmartCap/Equibase with best last, best overall speed and third best overall class. This son of Frieson Fire has the top $/race at Parx with $10.7K/race and the nearest is $8K (#6). She also has the best lifetime per race at $10.1K, towering over the rest. For the year, she has had seconditis going 5: 1-3-1 for $9.5K/race, 2nd best of this group. She should get a stalking trip with the speed in this race and Frankie Pennington having his third try aboard.
#1 Salsita Roja (7/2) going for her fourth win in as many tries, she is going to jump to the front and dust anyone who comes near, initially, at least. This year, she is a perfect 3-3, earning $47K or $12.9K/race. There is no doubt which way this filly is going to run and the only way she’ll be caught is if #8 Queen Of Schmmoze (12/1) and her gas each other.
#5 Slingin Sammy B (6/1) has second best speed and class as well as best last two cumulatively. She ran a horrendous race last time as a huge odds on and Mychel Sanchez threw in the towel and stopped her. That was three weeks ago in a $25K starter allowance and today she gets class relief, returning to a level where she has been much more competitive. Certainly not one to toss out.
#3 Stormbeam (9/2) a strong closer type, she is coming off a win where her trainer is 15% in that situation. She gets a turn back in distance where she has a 16:5-0-4 record. Although she has second best class, speed and last, this granddaughter of Storm Cat is staying at the same level with no works for this past months layoff. I am not a fan.
My pick: #1 Salsita Roja makes it 4-4 and wires the field.
This race can be tricky because it’s off the turf.
I’m going with # 9 Gambit’s Girl (10/1). She has the best overall speed and second best class previous to the others scratching. She also has our best last race. She was not a good turf prop, frankly, given she never raced on that surface before. #3 Athwaaq is another to consider. Her record on dirt is 13:3-2-3 for $66K.
The 1 & 9 are scratched in this.
Gong by the numbers, #4 Flat Out Flying (8/1) and #2 Artistic Drifter (3/1) are head and shoulders above the rest of the field. I am going to exacta box these two and given the workouts of the 4, I may make a small w/p wager.
