Todays’ race is the 2nd at Gulfstream. This is a $25K claiming, one-mile event, on the turf, for fillies and mares that are four years of age and greater that are non-winners of two races.
SmartCap has disclosed four best last entries with tight numbers:
#2 So Charming (8/5) 87/117
#7 Shikaka (7/2) 83/11
#5 She Fled The Scene (10/1) 73/11
#3 Strella’s War (10/1) 76/102
Best overall speed is So Charming and best overall class goes to She Fled The Scene with So Charming clocking a near second. The best last two races are a tie between #6 Golden Tap (12/1) and Shikaka.
This race is a solid betting opportunity for exotic bettors. With So Charming positioned to go off as the favorite (a Saffie Joseph horse ridden by Victor Lebron and they’re 43% together), Strella’s War is ridden by Irad and with his trainer, Rodolphe Brisset, they’re 57%. She Fled The Scene is trained by Kathleen O’Connell and her barn has been tough lately. Shikaka is ridden by Edgar Prado and he’s been 19% the past ten days.
So Charming makes sense to me as the win/place play and I am taking a trifecta with the four best last horses:
5-3/5-3-7/2, 5-3/2/5-3-7, 2/5-3/5-3-7
